Dimitra Pilichou

PhD Candidate

Dimitra Pilichou holds a BSc in History and Philosophy of Science from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Residing in Sheffield, UK since 2015, she has trained as a life coach and worked as a Sustainability Projects Assistant at the University of Sheffield. In September 2018 she started her studies in the same university, awarded with a studentship from the Economic and Social Research Council.
Her doctoral research is entitled “Does living in an eco-community make you happier? Critical evaluation of case studies from Greece and Spain as potential alternative development pathways”. This is an interdisciplinary project, combining Geography, Psychology and Urban Studies and Planning.
She has volunteered in numerous projects relating to sustainability and the environment. Notably amongst them, she has completed a six-month Erasmus placement internship at the eco-community Sunseed in South Spain and a two-month European Voluntary Service aimed at organising an eco-festival in Kazanlak, Bulgaria.
